Organizing my supplies tends to be a constant process. I am always looking for new ways to effectively store items that also inspire me to use them more. Stamps have proved to be one of those supplies that I just don’t use often enough. Many times, I forget I have a specific stamp, or I just can’t find the stamps I want.
While most stamp sets are designed to have a theme in mind, there are often word phrases or motifs that could be used for multiple themes. Breaking stamps sets apart allows for more creative options. The easiest way to break apart a stamp set is to divide the stamps into categories. This is a school themed stamp set. However I can use the sun for a summer scrapbook page and the cat for a pet themed page. This set has three categories: school, pets and weather/seasons.
Most of the stamps will fit into a CD case or an envelope. These are all a uniform size. It makes it so easy to slip the cd cases into a drawer which is divided by categories. I used strips of cardboard to divide a larger Sterilite Drawer into 3 sections. I labeled smaller pieces of cardboard and used those as tabs for each category. It might not be beautiful, but it’s very effective.
I’ve been using this method for almost a year now and find it’s so much easier to use the stamps. Storage doesn’t have to be beautiful to work well. This method works for my budget. Now that I know it does, I can choose to invest in some wood or other material to create more aesthetically pleasing dividers for my stamp storage.
