Need some advice on how to deal with a naughty kitten? I might not be the best one to ask. Generally, I opt to just take a photograph. Kittens are quite cute and very photogenic. They also seem to have a hard time holding still which makes catching them in the act of doing mischief a good opportunity to get your camera out. Chances are, the kitten is so distracted he or she won’t notice you are taking pictures. If they do notice you, you might be able to capture their surprise when they realize you are watching them. This exact scenario happened for me when Boo was a kitten. He was so engrossed with tearing up the toilet paper that he failed to notice me at first. About a dozen shots later, he realized I was watching him and I caught quite a wonderful pose of shock and dismay.
Which leads me to the next question. How should I document this innocent kitten mischief? Pet kits are fine, but I don’t always feel like they fit my story. If you want something fun and a bit different, consider looking toward kits geared at young kids. There are quite a few options, especially in the digital realm. Having a willingness to go hybrid certainly opens up more possibilities. I chose to work with a kit from Traci Reed called You Did Not Just Do That. The color palette is playful and there are several themed embellishments which make this kit a great candidate for documenting pet mischief.
To make this scrapbook page, you will need to cut out patterned paper in the following sizes(choose a different print for each piece):
2 sheets -8.5 x 11
1 sheet-8 x 8 of white cardstock (optional)
2 sheets-5 x 5
You will be using a 4 x 6 vertical photo but could substitute two 3 x 4 horizontal prints.
The sizes are approximate and you can, of course, alter the sketch in any way you wish to create your layout.
As you choose your papers, alternate between bold and subtle patterns. Choose a few colors and use those as a guide for embellishment selection. You want to pull some of the color upwards and into the embellishment clusters.
Layer the papers one on top of the other starting with the largest sheets. If you find the patterns are too busy and you need to rest your eyes, use a sheet of 8 x 8 white cardstock between the layers of the 8.5 x 11 papers and the smaller paper cluster with the photos. Add your embellishments and journaling to complete the layout.

Your story can be placed anywhere. I used scraps from printing the hybrid papers to create journaling strips. I could have used more photos of Boo playing with the toilet paper roll but most were a bit blurry. Sometimes, one photo is all that you need to convey your story perfectly.
When you document your pets, do you use pet themed paper only? Or do you like to use whatever kit you feel suits the story?
