There are times in which the photograph drives the story. There are also times in which product directs the way a story will be told. This layout began with a title. It all started with Pretty Please. It’s a free cut file from Amanda Robinson studios. When I saw it, I knew I wanted to show how our female cat stands up on her hind legs and delicately takes treats from our hands.
This wasn’t something I had a picture of. It’s one of those little moments that happens so fast and I don’t think to have my camera available to capture it. It’s a moment in which I just enjoy the quick exchange between Jujubee and the giver of the treat. To capture it, I had my son sit with the treat bag in a relatively well lit part of our living room. It only took a few shots and I had what I needed.

I added some stickles and a jewel to the title. I was thrilled to be able to include the “thank mew” stamp. It was one of the cat stamps I thought I would never ever use.
It isn’t a common thing for me to stage a photoshoot, but the cut file sure drove me to tell a very specific story. Proof positive that it’s ok for product to direct your storytelling from time to time.
