I print my photos at home. For me it’s very economical and I like everything about it except for the scraps left over from cropped photos. Recently, I began experimenting with creating a background for my pages using the leftover scraps. This is a technique that will work for you regardless of whether you are a scrapbooker, card maker or mixed media artist. Today, I am going to make a scrapbook page using those leftover bits of glossy photo paper.

Supplies:

-glossy cardstock or photo paper- cut into strips of varying sizes

– adhesive

-sewing machine( optional)

– materials to layer over your background. Think paint, mist, stamps, papers, etc.

Step One make a line of adhesive across your page, then place the paper strips across the adhesive line. You will want to layer them randomly allowing the paper strips to over lap each other

Step Two  ( optional) you may wish to hand stitch or use a sewing machine to add two rows of stitches.

Step Three begin layering items on the page. In my case, I chose to use stencils and paint. I added details using a black marker. It was then easy to add photos, a title and journaling to my page.

Using the glossy photo paper strips creates a unique tone on tone background for any project. The white background is easily adaptable to any theme used in cards, layouts or mixed media projects.
