On the latest episode of the DigiScrap Geek Podcast, I got to meet Gennifer Bursett. Gennifer is a lot of fun to talk with. I really had a blast talking with her and the ladies of the Digiscrap Geek Podcast. The main topic of our latest podcast centered around a competition called Cropped. It’s geared toward digital scrapbookers. However, as we talked, we all began to wonder how a digitally based challenge might be interpreted by a hybrid scrapbooker. I decided then and there to sign myself up for Cropped. I might not be eligible for the prizes, but I know for sure I will have  a lot of fun. I will be challenged and I will have the opportunity to see just how far I can push my hybrid memory keeping skills.

If you are interested in the Cropped challenge, you still have a few days to sign up.

  • Registration: Now – September 25
  • Round 1: Aperitifs | Sept 25-Oct 1
  • Round 2: Appetizers | Oct 3-8
  • Round 3: Seafood | Oct 10-15
  • Round 4: Entrée | Oct 17-22
  • Round 5: Dessert | Oct 24-29

Each round is similar to the show Chopped. We will be given a recipe of items and techniques to work with. We then create a layout based on that recipe and by using several mystery basket items. To participate, you do need to use supplies from Pixels and Company Designers. To prepare myself, I have gone through my photos and selected some kits I think would work well with them. I added those kits to my wishlist and will purchase as needed. I am tempted to get the kits now, but I also realize that I need to be flexible. Some of my chosen photos may not work well with the challenge. I will then need to adapt.

I will be sharing my work on the challenges here in an article series called Cropped: The Hybrid Perspective. I hope you will join in on the fun as well.
