Using up those last few letters in a sheet of alphabet stickers can be quite  challenging. If you are like me, you still hesitate throw out that partial sheet. This month, I am a guest designer for the Counterfeit Kit challenge blog.One of this month’s kit challenges it to Mix It Up with the supplies used for creating the page title. When I created my kit, I purposefully chose a partial sheet of letter stickers. Making it a part of my home made kit ensured that I would be more likely to engage in title play. I am going to share a process video showing how I created my title. As you watch, keep the following tips in mind:

Tips for Title Play

1. Consider using a piece of word art as your starting point. Whether it’s the starting point for just the title or for the entire page. For this layout, I chose to use the word art as the starting point for my title. I knew the layout would be about my son’s birthday so that guided my word art choice. If you don’t have pictures in mind, choose the word art first and use it as a prompt to guide both your photo choices and your supply choices. It can also guide the story or journaling.
2. Choose a partial sheet of leftover letters, then choose a package of letter stickers to compliment it. I chose the partial sheet of navy stickers, then found another navy colored foam alphabet set to compliment it. In this case, the colors were a near match. They don’t have to be. Play with using another color that makes a few letters pop.
3. Consider size and texture when choosing your letter stickers. Both sets of letter stickers I chose for the word birthday are foam. Having that same texture made it easier to make them look cohesive. There is no rule that says both must be made from the same material or have the same texture, however, it does make for a good starting point. As you choose your letters, think about how the textures play together. Size is a factor too. My layout is about a cheery, fun topic. This makes it easy to mix and match letters of different sizes. If the topic were more serious, this may not have worked well to support the story.
