Being kind to yourself isn’t always easy for everyone. Many of us find that we are often our biggest critics, especially when it comes to being creative. In this edition of the Dual Imaginations collaboration, I invite you to find the angel inside yourself.
I am really excited about our new kit. I have been experimenting with creating digital images from my artwork. I contributed two of the images for the Angel Inside kit ( the wings and the small black and white angel stamp). For awhile, I have been playing with the idea of designing my own scrapbook and art journal kit supplies. While I am not ready to open a store just yet, this is a great way for me to practice create digital images. I chose to create a two page art journal spread in one of my recycled magazine art journals.
From time to time, I build backgrounds inside my art journal. When I create the background, I don’t always have a finished page in mind. This was one of those background pages. I chose it because the color palette worked well with the digital images from the Angel Inside kit.
I chose to add more details to one of the angels from the kit. I cut off the hair and the flower, setting aside the flower for later use. I drew in a face, painted hair and extended the body down a bit.
I decided to change the wings on this angel. I then added a few details with pen and ink to customize it. This angel is not as detailed as the first but that is ok with me since it is not the focal image.

The journaling reads, ” Creativity is a divine endeavor…Allow yourself to play. Be Brave for you are angelic and can do so much more than you give yourself credit for!” It serves as a reminder for myself. Not just the words but the creation of the page itself. A year ago, I would have been too shy to share a finished page. I would have been unsure of what to write. I would have been intimidated to use my own handwriting.
I don’t think I am quite finished with this kit yet. I have ideas for at least two other pages. For now though, I am quite happy with my angel I love using an image in the kit as my “base”. It is such a time saver and it just goes to show you that one image can produce very different results.
