This is it! Today we reveal the final ingredient! It’s a pretty simple one but one that puts the icing on the cake, so to speak. We are to add finishing touches.
This last ingredient leaves a lot to interpretation. I decided to fill the face in with blue paint. I then drew in the facial features which had previously been covered up. I used a pen to outline some areas on the page and small details in other areas. The finished piece is not necessarily my best. However, I don’t hate it. Most importantly, this page represents a return to art journaling. My pandemic lockdown saw very little of me being creative and I have struggled to get that spark back. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing along with the challenge.
Part of me wishes that I had been a little bolder with my ingredient choices. Playing it safe and conservative meant I had a little more control over the process. I think that choice says a lot about my mental state coming out of 2020. I am debating about trying the challenge again. I could write out the ingredients on pieces of paper, maybe add in a few more for a fresh start, then choose one at random and go from there. I could also move more quickly as I wouldn’t have to wait a week for a new ingredient to be released. We shall see if I get around to doing that. I might not have been terribly creative lately but I have been really good about making a list of things I want to create. I have decided to just let myself drift wherever my creativity takes me for now. Hopefully, I break out of listmaking soon.
