Cover the Corners of a 12x12 layout with a 6x6 Scrapbook Paper Pad

I have three baskets filled to the brim and sitting on a shelf. I love 6 x 6 paper pads but have refrained from buying any for awhile. Given my large supply, it’s time for me to start using more of them up. Are your paper pads piling up too? The trick with any 6 x 6 scrapbook paper pad is to find the right layout to use them on. As easy as they are on your budget and storage space, it’s often far less complicated to just grab 12 x 12 paper( especially if it is already in a kit). So how can we make better use of them?

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #442Think of a 6 x 6 scrapbook paper pad as a kit that just needs embellishments. Start with your photo, choose the paper pad, select a 12 x 12 paper to be your canvas then just add letters and embellishments. You now have a kit ready to go but perhaps you need a little inspiration to get you creating. A sketch could do the trick especially if it has parts that could be comprised of scraps from a 6 x 6 paper pad.

Today, we will be working with Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #442. The sketch works well with 6 x 6 scrapbook paper pads. One 6 x 6 sheet can be in half and used in two corners. The central block design that houses the photos can be made from two sheets of 6×6 patterned paper. Ready to see how? Let’s watch the video!

It’s easy to see a 6 x 6 scrapbook paper pads as a block. This leads them to be used with ease in block or grid style designs. To use them more effectively, we need to look for layout designs that inspire us the cut them apart and fill other shapes. Sketches are a great exercise in getting our minds the think out of the box. They provide us with a little guidance which is especially helpful when working with a lot of patterns.

Do you find yourself stuck in block designs when you use 6 x 6 paper pads? Or have you broken free of the block mold?
