Sometimes, when you use a product regularly, the company takes notice. A few months ago, Stencilgirl® approached me and asked if I would like to create a project for their blog. They had noticed some of my work through #thestencilfiedjournal project. I love their stencils and immediately said yes. I have a decent amount of Stencilgirl® products in my stash and though I could have easily used any of those, they were kind enough to send me a few new ones to play with. At the time I accepted the offer to create a project for their blog, I had no clue what I would create. I only knew I wanted to try something new and different.

It was around this same time frame that I began to take silk painting classes with Maria Baj ( you can find her work on Instagram or Facebook). In class, I learned the essential techniques and how to use the supplies. I was encouraged to try using stencils. I brought a few Stencilgirl® products to class and created the traditional style painting shown above over the course of several sessions.
While my paintings in class were more traditional, I found ways to explore with other techniques at home. Having a background with mixed media, it is often hard for me to not bring in multiple materials. Which leads me to the second project being featured on the Stencilgirl® blog. This is a sort of sneak peek of my canvas. The painting, which I call Art Molecule, combines a blend of silk painting and hand stitched elements. You can see the full project along with the process video showing how I created it over at Stencilgirl® Talk.
