Scrapbook Challenges: How I Cheated on a Trend

Watercolor has been a fast and growing trend in the scrapbook industry. While I am not opposed to getting a little messy in my creative space, I am not adept at using certain mediums. Water color is one of those. Whether you are new to the watercolor technique or you just don’t want to deal with a wet medium, there is another option for you. In essence, you can simply cheat on the watercolor trend by choosing supplies with a watercolor look.

This layout features a photo of my son using his feet to squish open plastic Easter eggs. Watercolor paper and elements are perfect to support the light playful feel and suggest it’s a spring page. Instead of making my own watercolor supplies, I chose to work with paper and embellishments from an Amy Tangerine collection. Using pre-made items not only saved me from cleaning up a mess, they also saved me time. There was no wait for the project to dry plus, I worked within a single collection. Choosing coordinating supplies was a breeze.

Are you interested in the water color trend? Do you paint or would you prefer using pre-made water color themed supplies?

Scrapbook Challenged currently has a water color trend challenge that you can participate in. Be sure to stop by the Scrapbook Challenges blog for details and to view more watercolor inspiration from the SBC Sketch Crew.
