Scrapbook Process Video: Build in Progress #LOAD517

I am honored to be a guest designer for Scraphappy’s Layout a Day Challenge (LOAD517). This month’s challenges all feature movies as inspiration. Today’s prompt was based on inspiration from Star Wars. As with any time I approach LOAD, my goal is to create a scrapbook layout in approximately one hour or less. I started with the prompt, chose photos, grabbed a pre-made scrapbook kit ( actually two- one digital and one paper), and then set to work.

Though this particular scrapbook page is inspired by Star Wars, it does not have a Star Wars theme. Movies and books can inspire you with more than just a direct motif. They can encourage you to explore deeper stories in your journaling and to find hidden motifs to add to your pages. This page tells the story of my husband and son building a new gaming computer together. It also explores their relationship and how it has developed from my son’s birth to the present. The immediate motif I chose is computer and technology related. I was inspired to choose the photos and the computer themed supplies based on the idea that technology plays a role in the Star Wars universe. As a nod to the movie, I did include some star sequins in my embellishment clusters.

Creating pages quickly is a skill I have cultivated both through understanding my personal style and in practice. The Layout a Day challenge is one of the ways in which I learned to practice scrapbooking quickly. I have been participating in the LOAD aka Layout a Day Challenge for many years through Scraphappy.
