I knew that I wanted one from the moment I saw them. The camera straps and covers from BlueBird Chic were, all at once, quite elegant and very practical. They weren’t just a way to hold your camera around your neck. They were an addition to your wardrobe and in many ways a fashion statement. It would be more then a year before I would get one of my very own. Not because they cost a lot. The price was very reasonable. I didn’t get one because I didn’t have a camera to use the strap with.
Finally, I participated in a Kickstarter Program with Lomography.com. I received a wonderful Lomo Instant Camera for a great price. The camera came with a strap, however, I didn’t much care for it. The design just wasn’t to my taste. Thoughts of the BlueBird Chic strap covers came to mind. Would one work with my new toy camera? The answer was a resounding yes.
I am still learning the ins and outs of the Lomo Instant Camera. While I am not yet ready to review it, I can say without pause that I love the camera strap cover which adorns it.
Pros
The strap cover is very sturdy. I have no worries about any of the seams coming undone.
The camera strap cover adds a bit of padding around my neck. I am no longer having issues with the strap digging into my skin.
It’s beautiful and when I wear the camera, it’s more like a functional accessory versus a plain camera hanging from an ugly strap around my neck.
The price is very reasonable especially considering that the straps and strap covers from BlueBird Chic are handmade.
Cons
I had to pick just one. There are several different styles and many different choices of fabric available to choose from. Picking just one strap cover was hard. In the end, it came down to which strap would match the most clothes from my wardrobe and would also look nice on my white Lomo Instant.
The con really isn’t much of a con at all. Remember when I said these covers and straps are kind of like a beautiful accessory? It would be very easy to choose additional straps or strap covers and change them out at will. It’s something I definitely plan to do in the future.
If you would like the chance to try out a BlueBird Chic camera strap or strap cover, now is the time.
